Cradle to Safe Community: Toward A Policy and Practice Pathway

What are the innovative policies and practices being implemented in Urban Networks to Increase Thriving Youth (UNITY) and Early Childhood Learning and Innovation Network for Communities (EC-LINC) communities to promote community safety and optimal development for young children? This web conference will share an emerging framework and findings from a scan conducted by PI and CSSP in partnership with the UNITY City Network and EC-LINC. The scan identified policies and practices that are designed to:

1) Support positive early childhood development in specific ways that promote community safety in the long-term.

2) Reduce community level risks for multiple forms of violence to support the healthy development of young children.

The resultant framework will convey the pathway from positive early childhood development to community safety and the ways in which community safety are supportive of early childhood development outcomes. Participants will be invited to give feedback on the emerging framework, findings and how this work can be advanced.
