We hope to see you in Minneapolis, October 27–30 for the 2024 American Public Health Association (APHA) annual meeting. This year’s theme is Rebuilding Trust in Public Health and Science

Join Trust for America’s Health for a virtual Congressional briefing and national webinar honoring the 25th anniversary of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Racial and Ethnic Approaches to Community Health (REACH) program. REACH aims to improve health, prevent chronic diseases, and reduce health disparities among racial and ethnic populations with the highest risk, or burden of chronic disease. Since 1999, the program has empowered communities to develop and share effective solutions, fostering a healthier future for all.

Please join us for Prevention Institute’s upcoming learning session: Uplifting Contextual and Experiential Evidence: Best Practices and Recommendations on Wednesday, July 17 at 10-11:30am PST / 1-2:30pm EST.

As states and jurisdictions continue to plan for the use of opioid settlement funds, it is critical that they consider the importance of primary prevention strategies, impact measurement, and sustainability. In the first part of this webinar, briefly hear from Prevention Institute about how decision-makers can leverage primary prevention in opioid remediation activities and how they complement and strengthen harm reduction, treatment, and long-term recovery strategies.

Please join us for an upcoming learning session: Uplifting Contextual and Experiential Evidence: Integrating and Weaving Evidences in Practice on Wednesday, May 29 at 10-11:30am PST / 1-2:30pm EST.

With support from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Prevention Institute and its partners–Big Cities Health Coalition, ChangeLab Solutions, SheRay’s and Associates, and RTI International– are working collectively to increase an understanding of the evidence-base for preventing substance use, misuse, and overdose; build the capacity of decision makers to make choices informed by science, contextual, and lived experience to reduce overdose in their jurisdictions; and strengthen partnerships to enhance the effectiveness of using opioid settlement funding. This webinar series will share some of the learnings of this project and serve to forge collaboration, deepen community engagement, and strengthen a continuum of practice in efforts to leverage opioid settlement funds.
