Joint use (also known as “shared use”), is a way to increase opportunities for children and adults to be physically active. It refers to two or more entities—usually a school and a city or private organization—sharing indoor and outdoor spaces like gymnasiums, athletic fields and playgrounds. The concept is to share resources to keep costs down and communities healthy.
Prevention Institute's Community Prevention Readiness Self-Assessment is a tool that allows groups to be proactive and conduct a candid evaluation of their current capacity to engage in environmental change. Key elements of the assessment include: taking a comprehensive approach, building a strong collaboration, fostering strong interdisciplinary partnerships, identifying core leadership, advancing health equity, and building capacity among staff and partners.
